SMSentry is an SMS application that classifies messages for scam risk on the user's Android device.
When SMSentry is selected as the default SMS app, it accesses SMS and MMS data needed to display, receive, and send messages. It also uses notification permission to notify the user about new messages and risk results.
SMSentry does not require broad contacts access. When the user chooses a recipient with Android's contact picker, the app receives access only to the selected contact entry.
The release version performs message classification and Deep Check analysis on the device. SMS content, sender identifiers, one-time passwords, account numbers, and message URLs are not sent to SMSentry servers.
Analysis history, evidence, feedback, and learned sender preferences are stored locally in an encrypted app database. SMS and MMS content is also stored by the Android system because SMSentry acts as the default SMS app. App backup is disabled. The user can clear learned classifications from Settings and can delete messages or conversations in the app.
The app may connect to the internet when the user downloads an on-device AI model. The model host receives normal connection data such as the device's IP address and request metadata, but SMS content is not included in the download request.
Online evidence lookup is disabled in the current release. A future release will require a policy update and an explicit in-app disclosure before message entities or URLs can be sent to an external lookup service.
SMSentry does not sell personal data. The current release does not share SMS or MMS content with the developer, advertisers, analytics providers, or external AI services.
The app can share message text only when the user deliberately invokes an Android sharing action and chooses a destination app.
Local data remains on the device until the user deletes it, clears the relevant app data, or uninstalls SMSentry. The developer does not retain a server-side copy because the current release does not upload message or analysis data.
SMSentry is not directed to children.
Material changes to data handling will be reflected in this policy and in the app before the changed behavior is released.
